After spending nearly a year in the hospital and undergoing 16 operations, Abul Bajandar – a Bangladeshi man nicknamed “Tree Man†– is finally cured.
Abul made worldwide headlines with an unusual condition on his hands called epidermodysplasia verruciformis.
The large wood-like warts growing all over his hands made Abul practically helpless in his daily life.
His disability prevented him from doing the one thing he dreamed of on a daily basis and that was holding his young daughter.
Abul didn’t always have the condition but once the medical community got wind of it, they offered to give him the operations he desperately needed at no cost.
He and his family would end up living at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he received treatment.
After having dealt with the debilitating condition for 10 years, he is overjoyed with the results, telling AFP: “Now I feel so much better. I can hold my daughter in my lap and play with her. I can’t wait to go back home.â€
