In a recent interview with Vulture, president of Motion Picture Production over at Disney, Sean Bailey, offered up some new details about the Mulan remake which recently hired Whale Rider’s Nikki Caro to direct. Unlike Beauty and the Beast and the upcoming Aladdin movie, which are both musicals, Bailey revealed that the Mulan movie isn’t currently planned as a musical adaptation, but as bit of a tougher, “fresh take on female empowerment.†See video for details.
