: With the end of the 2016/17 English Premier League season demolition work at Tottenham Hotspur's White Hart Lane stadium has been stepped up.

Aerial views from a helicopter on Tuesday (May 30) showed mechanical diggers churning up the old stadium's pitch and demolition of old stands beginning.

The new stadium is due to be ready in time for the 2018/19 season with Tottenham playing at Wembley Stadium for their 2017/18 home games.

Work on the new stadium has been taking place for two years next to the old stadium. Once the old stadium and stands are destroyed the second half of the new stadium can be built.

The innovative new stadium is being constructed to give the U.S. National Football League (NFL) a purpose-built ground in London. The NFL pitch will be permanent with the Premier League pitch above it. The turf pitch will be retractable, sliding away in three sections to be parked underneath the stands during an NFL game.

Capacity at the stadium will be over 61,000 with a single tier end stand that allows 17,000 people to be seated together. The old White Hart Lane capacity was just over 32,000.

Tottenham are contracted to host two NFL games a season with two teams flying in from the USA for the fixture.

In the past such matches have been staged at Wembley and Twickenham with considerable difficulty, needing artificial turf and some seating removed.

The new Tottenham stadium will mean a dedicated artificial pitch and perfect sight-lines are in place for an NFL game with minimal changes required.

Harrison Ford told an air traffic controller "I'm the schmuck who landed on the taxiway" after a controversial landing at John Wayne Airport on February 13.

The actor, who was piloting his single engine Aviat Husky, landed on a taxiway instead of a runway, flying directly over an American Airlines Boeing 737 jet carrying 110 passengers.

The audio reveals Ford acknowledging the mistake and saying "It's a big deal for me," after the controller asked for his pilot's license information.

There was no damage to the American Airlines jet Ford flew over; it left shortly after the incident.

While the rest of world was celebrating Valentine's Day on February 14, military personnel from the US and 29 other countries were in Thailand attending the 36th jungle survival exercise 'Cobra Gold'.

The first 10-day military training operation in 1982 saw only participants from Thailand and the US taking part, but the event has now evolved into the biggest multilateral military exercise in the Asia-Pacific.

It aims to promote international cooperation and regional stability through events like a senior leader seminar, civic assistance projects in Thai communities and a variety of field training exercises.

About 100 US Marines learned jungle survival techniques such as how to avoid poisonous snakes like the King Cobra and survival techniques such as consuming scorpions or drinking snake's blood when water is in short supply.

Romanian Social Democrat lawmakers walked out of parliament on Tuesday during an address by President Klaus Iohannis.

Iohannis told lawmakers the country is in a political crisis, after hundreds of thousands demonstrated against a government measure that would weaken the country's anti-corruption drive.

The president said the majority of Romanians now considered the country was going in the wrong direction.

Lava from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano continued to stream into the Pacific Ocean yesterday, January 1, creating a rare 'firehose' effect.

The phenomenon occurs when molten lava hits cold seawater, causing explosions that can send large chunks of hot rock and debris shooting into the air.

The flow opened up when 26-acre lava delta collapsed into the ocean on New Year's Eve.

Despite triggering explosions and giant waves in the area upon its creation, the stream currently poses no threat to nearby communities, although the USGS is cautioning visitors not to approach it.

"Europe must do more to help refugees and migrants, dying of cold," according to the UNHCR.

As Europe is experiencing some of the lowest temperatures in decades, it is calling on European governments to save refugees, instead of rejecting them.

The UN's refugee agency has reported several deaths resulting from the harsh conditions, as migrants try to enter or travel across Europe.

Images of migrants queuing for food in snowy Belgrade have made many people recall scenes from WWII.

In Greece and Serbia, hundreds of people are living unheated tents or sleeping rough on unofficial sites.

Under these conditions, children are particularly prone to respiratory illnesses, says UNICEF.

In addition to all this, some refugees and migrants say police have subjected them to violence or that they have had their clothes confiscated.
